No one person can be credited with the invention of the top.  They've been
around for millennia in nearly all cultures of the world, in dozens of forms.
In medieval times, it was common for parishes to provide a large top available
for everyone to use in the town square!
Our spinning tops are hand-painted wood in a variety of patterns and colors.
We currently have egg tops, as shown to the right, but soon we will have other
kinds of tops as well.

Historical Toys
This page shows what
Historical Toys we
currently offer, and gives
a brief history on each
one.
Yo-yo's are considered the second oldest toy in history.  An article
on About.com by Mary Bellis says: "In ancient Greece, the toy was
made of wood, metal and terra cotta. The Greeks decorated the two
halves of the yo-y with pictures of their gods. As a right of passage
into adulthood Greek children often gave up their toys and placed
them on the family alter to pay homage."
Our wooden yo-yo's are hand-painted in a variety of patterns and
colors, including stenciled pictures.  We do not currently have any in
stock, and so we don't have any photos.  But they're coming soon.

Everyone remembers the wooden snakes that seem to move on their own.  They're pretty common.  But we have fish!  They
work the same way as the snakes.  They're made of wood, cut in to coin-like slices connected in the center.  Unlike the
snakes, they don't wiggle on your own because they're not as long as the snakes.  But when you shake them, they clack
and sound like a real fish out of water!
Of course, they're hand-painted in a variety of patterns and colors, ranging from realistic to totally abstract.  They're very
popular and as such, we ran out before we could get any pictures for the website, but we'll be getting more soon!
Wiggly Fish
Timeless toys that make the
perfect pets.  You don't have to
feed them, they won't make a
mess, they can't bite and unless
they're set on fire, they won't die!
Available in several colors, these
ferrets and mice are the perfect,
inexpensive addition to any toy
box.  Cats love them too!
They look like simple strips of
faux fur with eyes, but they'll only
wiggle correctly if the correct
furs are used and cut the correct
way!
You grew up with these playful
little furry friends, and now your
kids can share your memories!
